Halloween preview no. 2

 

 

It’s almost Halloween and we are busy decorating the living room.The chandelier is packed with all sorts of Halloween stuff and the creepy spider has also found it’s place!

Some scary details !

  

We still have to do some pumpkin carving but these jolly figures are fun as well!

 

My little wall cabinet is filled with old Halloween cards.

A Trick or Treat bag I hand painted years ago in primitive style.

 

These friendly witches and pillows  are also made some time ago in ‘prim 'style.

           

   

TRICKS AND TREATS ON HALLOWEEN THINGS ARE NOT  ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM !

 

It’s certain that we can’t celebrate tomorrow because not everyone can be there, so it will be Sunday  instead.Doesn’t matter we’re in the mood already and so is Jackie Potter !    Next time some more scary fun !!

Halloween preview.

This  Saturday it’s Halloween.We don’t like the scary and strange things  some people do on these days in America(turning your garden in a graveyard!?)but like to do something,like pumpkin carving , baking Halloween cookies and cakes ,mixing witches potions and playing funny games.Decorating the room is also a part of the     festivities.Nothing scary just fun!!Orange isn’t my favorite color but on Halloween it’s quite essential and so is black!

In the webshop of Belle brocante I bought these funny Halloween labels.These cones I made some time ago, just changed the label and added a black paper lace(from the Xenos).

  Also funny to make are these simple lights.Put a light in the(Bon Maman)jam jar,decorate with rope and stick some things like (ivy)leaves,crabapple and acorns under it and of course  a nice label as a finishing touch!

 

Last little picture you see the newspaper box I made (last blog) just added some old Halloween pictures to it that I found on the internet ,sticked a little black or white paper lace under it and there’s my scary box!

Cheap trick……

  

Sometimes if you’re lucky you can make something nice out of something  cheap.I found this zinc  plate placed in a serving tray I bought at the Wibra’s for only four euro’s.I removed the wood and kept the zinc plate that can  easily be used as an template.At the Aldi’s I bought a very large natural linen look  cheap tablecloth and together with some textile paint I started stenciling the words on the fabric.And I must say I kind of like the result!

I also painted a brown band and stitched some brown twill tape on the pillows.  

I’ve made two round and two square pillows.While at the Aldi’s I also found a dark brown bench cover .I have this old bench on my attic that sits quite well but the fabric is horrible.I already had a grand foulard spread all over it but since this foulard isn’t all that grand anymore I was in need of something new.So I was very happy when I found this cover.For a few euro’s I have a new bench and a few pillows!  

 

And when I don’t use the template it also looks nice in the living room.    

Something else I made from a tea box bought at the Xenos.I sticked some old newspapers on the box and some rope,postcard and of course some stamps.And I funny old box I have to keep some new stuff in.

 

  The cheapest way to decorate is with things that come for free.Like this old ‘Jamin’ box that my husband found on his work and of course the Lavender from the garden and the nice cones that you can roll from a simple piece of paper or an old one found somewhere on a flea market  fill it with Lavender and glue or stick some nice things to it. 

This is not the usual picture of Jackie but a little Halloween cake.We are thinking and preparing some funny and scary things for Halloween!!More Halloween next time.
